You Do Not Have Permission To Quit!

Mikia Shae Troche – Founder and CEO

What does the word “ENDURE” mean to you? Many of us would define the word as a form of suffering, or going through something to achieve a specific end goal. If you’re a living breathing human being, you are at some point in your life enduring through a storm. For some, it may be a little less difficult than others, which would have a person in the midst of enduring without even realizing it.

On Saturday, June 1, 2019 my spiritual soul was set ablaze from the moment I set foot into the Semi-Annual Enduring Conference, held at the Holiday Inn, in the lovely city of Virginia Beach. Author, visionary, motivational speaker, and business mentor Mikia Shae Troche greeted her conference attendees looking simply angelic in an all-white attire. You could feel the peacefulness in the room, filled with eye-catching  tones of yellow and blue, as encouraging sounds of gospel music played in the background.

I pride myself on being able to pick up positive energy vibes. Every single speaker who spilled their life’s transparency, gave me inspiring levels of goose bumps! I’ve always heard, sharing is caring, yet somehow in the process of sharing, each and every single testimony intentionally gave the room full of attendees, food for thought. Anyone who was in attendance will more than likely tell you of at least one important aspect he or she learned as a knowledgeable take-away. When you can gather together our young millennials, and our respected senior generation at the same table, smiling, chatting, and breaking bread, you’ve accomplished diversity. Vendor stations created a very relaxing experience for those who enjoy stumbling upon something a little special to take home.

Quote of the day: Neisha Himes – G.R.O.W. Foundation

“Your crown matches every outfit, never take it off”

This well-organized event included a wonderful host, comedian Ryheem Johnson captured the audience with his clean cut, and let me add entertaining humor straight out of the gate. His intermittent jokes proved to be just what was needed to change up the mood during the conference. Life is not always kind, healthy discussions of how to step up and endure any adversity being thrown at you is a topic we should all be interested in hearing. Telling a story in mime, or standing on a stage takes courage, but the healing begins way before making a choice to share your life with others. Manny Mitchell spoke enthusiastically on the storm of rejection, how starting a career with no arms proved what we all know to be true….”What GOD has for you, is for you”…

We all have a story, are you empowering others with your enduring journey?

I had the pleasure of a short interview with the founder of the Enduring Conference, Mikia Shae Troche, her spirit of authenticity glowed as bright as any diamond in the swankiest of jewelry stores. Having survived a stroke, being wheel chair bound, amongst other adversities, never gave her permission to quit. This beautiful queen endured every negative emotion imaginable, she cried, she prayed, and then with the help of her loving husband, she got up for the win.

Mikia captured the attention of her audience with a powerful heartfelt speech as she ended the conference. The topic, “You Do Not Have Permission To Quit”, resonated throughout the entire room, as if she were standing on stage with a bullhorn.

Every head nodded in agreement, without blinking an eye….

Thank you, for the amazing opportunity to blog your event, while interacting with your panel of fascinating speakers. Every testimony held value to someone in the room. Bravo Sista!

Honorable Mention: Nicole Armstrong, Juanita Ricks, Ryheem Johnson, Manny Mitchell, Jada Danielle, Jay Harris, Suzette Meeks, Neisha Himes, Shakeya Nesbitt, Tanisha Thompson, and keynote speaker Mikia Troche

Mouth Watering Sweet Potato Cheesecake Dessert

Have you ever dreamed of having your own personal chef? Of course, we sometimes crave those delectable homemade yummies we see displayed on our television screens. About a year ago, I became acquainted with a young single mother, who also happened to be an aspiring chef on the rise. She was somewhat soft spoken, but I could see she was ever so hungry to succeed. I really connected with Chef Bea, also known as Chef Beatrice Copeland, owner of ‘Oh My Loaf, LLC.

Chefbea9 Chef Beatrice Copeland

It gives me a tremendous amount of pleasure to watch this young chef blossom in the business woman she always hoped to be. Its inspiring, anytime a single mother works towards her dreams, you can find me somewhere in the background cheering her on. I had a chance to stop by Chef Bea’s pop up Sunday Brunch, located in Virginia Beach, at the well known Phoenix Restaurant and Lounge. Now listen, I’m nowhere near being a food critic, but what I admittedly am is a foodie girl. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, highlighting my down to earth palate with every food item I love, including an omelet station, shrimp and grits, with an assortment of fruit.

Chef Beatrice, your new positive mantra is certainly appropriate for the trajectory of your culinary path, salute from one single mother to another.

Four More Days till Spring arrives….

Are you mentally ready to put in the work it takes to get that sculpted spring body? It all begins on your plate dear lovebugs, what you put into your body is exactly what builds the groundwork for your spring fling results.

I have work to do, beginning with my thought process on healthy spring eating. For the last month or so my focus has been centered on self care, self love and manifesting my woo!!

You know that ahh-ha moment when you attend a big event and folks haven’t seen you in a while, because you’ve been hibernating inside the crib avoiding the winter month’s…that is when you bring your best woo! followed by the infamous cliche “girl you look damn good”.

I’m ready; mind, body and soul all in with small meal portions, healthy salads, mindset change, low impact workouts and a lovely vision of moi in a pink-hott pink two piece swimsuit.

Poolside Ambience in VA…

Brunch1 Live Poolside Artist

One of the most important aspects of life is to know when and how to wind down the hustle. Relaxation, Zen or special moments are necessary to re-charge the mind and body with the energy needed to keep going full steam ahead.

“What A Man” That Dapper Luq, model and host extraordinaire dropped a bit of classy sophistication on the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with his poolside brunch.

Brunch5 Levels of Flyness

As the guest entered this beautiful mansion you could see a look of amazement in everyone’s facial expressions. I actually heard a very handsome young man from New York comment, “Wowww this is soooo lit”, and I sipped my mimosa in total agreement. I came to mingle, look pretty and enjoy the ambience of the upper echelon on the V.I.P. level…Yaasss Lovebugs all of my intentions were accomplished and then some.

Listen up! whenever I hear the name drop of “Chef J Ponder”, I know exactly what time it is. Every morsel of food that hit my palate was on one hundred in taste, as well as presentation. I can see a very extensive bright culinary future ahead for this young chef and his team.

 Brunch3

Chef J Ponder & Team (every foodies dream)

I must admit…I was impressed with the lovely landscaping, the horses in the background added a certain out of the city experience. The live DJ kept the guest dancing around the pool, giving a vibe of a day party type event. Lounging upstairs in the V.I.P. section was the ultimate Zen moment for me, can I tell you I almost fell asleep.

Congratulations “Dapper Luq” I can assure you every one had a blast.

The Cougar Effect Unzipped

Brunch2 ~DakotaVibe

An older woman dating younger men, as a rule of thumb, has forever been looked upon as reprehensible, to a certain degree. Pick up any magazine, flip a page, and unveil a story of how some older female celebrity, just acquired a new boy toy. Society however, loves to celebrate an older man in a relationship with a much younger woman. Blah, Blah, Blah, it’s the same old stereotypical cliché. Let’s take a look at living life as a so-called cougar, from a perspective of experience. Dating and relationships, nowadays, require a certain level of creativity, thinking outside of the box.
About ten years ago, I decided to let go of my prudish concept, of what I was told, a healthy dating life, and or relationship, should look like. At this point in the Single Mom’s game, I had to come to terms with the quality of time being spent, far outweighing, the amount of time spent. Once the blinders came off, I could clearly see, every man in my dating age demographic of 40-65 years old had a different story, agenda, as well as approach.
Laughter, the ultimate cure-all, said to be the best medicine, was the first endearing characteristic I found to be attractive in dating younger men. Every single one, I’ve ever gone out with had the ability to make me giggle, at some point during the date. Maybe that’s just the baby-girl in me, okay, call it what you want. It’s a proven scientific fact; laughter releases endorphins, thus making you feel good.
Eagerness, the enthusiasm to please, going above and beyond to be well-groomed, wanting and putting forth every effort, to gain your undivided attention. Whether you admit this or not, every woman desires a man who thinks she’s special, something like, being put up on a pedestal. I love the contagious energy, of dating a younger man. Yes, I’m a sucker for early morning sexting, compliments, candle lit dinners (cooked by him), motivating mood music, dancing in the living room, all of the above, defines exactly what a cougar enjoys.
Companionship, expressed with the intention of friendship, closeness and or, possibly a
relationship. Younger men, pursue older women, for what they believe to be a more pleasurable, advanced, freaky, yet, a consensual sexual experience. Cougar’s, are not always, predator’s roaming the earth looking for her prey, either! I’ve had many intelligent conversations, with younger men who willing admit, they choose to date women, 10, 15, 20 years their senior, specifically to enjoy her level of intelligence, she shares. The older woman-younger man relationship, has many variables, only the adventurous, and brave souls get to experience, this dynamic union.
Cougar1 Google
Dating 101
  • Most women prefer not to be categorized as a “Cougar”. I consider myself to be a single, intelligent woman, who knows what type of man she’s compatible with. Of course, every relationship has a down side, problems, along with day-to-day challenges. Realistically, why would this be any different? I’m often reminded of those descriptive throwback 70’s song lyrics, by Bill Withers, “Use Me” Quote: I want to spread the news, that if it feels this good getting used, Just keep on using me, till you use me up” While society snaps its ugly teeth, at such a relationship, ultimately, “age ain’t nothing but a number”.
